The 2021 Rock Climbing National Championship (Kejurnas) will be held at the Venue Wall Mapalindup, University of Riau. The championship, which took place from 20-24 November 2021, was attended by 104 national athletes from university students, students and the general public.

There are six categories competed in this national championship, namely male general lead, male general speed classic, female general speed classic, male student/student lead, and female student/student lead. Yohannes Angel Rossi Que, an athlete from UM Surabaya won first place in the male general lead category.

Responding to the news of this victory, Junaidi Fery Effendi as head of the Student Affairs and Innovation Bureau (BAKAI) UM Surabaya expressed his pride for the achievements achieved by Yohanes. According to Junaidi, Yohanes is a student at the UM Surabaya Faculty of Economics and Business who is the recipient of an athlete scholarship from the university.

"I am proud of Yohanes who won first place in this national championship, a very prestigious championship because it was attended by national athletes from various regions. This is a form of Yohanes's commitment as a student receiving an athlete scholarship to continue to compete and set new records," he explained during an interview in his room.

Meanwhile, according to Yohanes's confession, the national championship this time was quite challenging, apart from competing against national athletes from various regions, these athletes also came from different levels who had quite tough skills to match.

“I am very proud of this achievement, before competing I was initially doubtful, seeing other athletes who have great abilities. However, thanks to the continuous support from the university and fellow athletes, I was finally able to win first place in this competition. The fatigue I felt disappeared instantly," said Yohanes in a written statement.
