The problems of pregnant women today are increasingly complex, starting from the process of pregnancy in the first semester, the phase of pregnancy in semesters 3-7 of pregnancy, to the time of delivery. Seeing this phenomenon, Desi Aristawati, a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya (FK UM Surabaya), initiated the use of Virtual Reality (VR) as education for pregnant women.
In research conducted by Desi, explained the benefits of VR in helping mothers give birth, in this case VR helps reduce pain and anxiety, and helps pregnant women exercise. In addition, the use of VR also helps in seeing the development of the embryo. Using a research sample age of at least 18 years with an early gestational age to mid-pregnancy.
"So the function is very helpful for mothers who will prepare for childbirth, the main goal is to minimize anxiety and pain during childbirth," he emphasized.
Desi added, the purpose of using VR in early pregnancy is to see the development and nutrition of pregnant women and babies, to help see the development of the embryo and fetus, and to improve the quality of life for mothers with training in late pregnancy to prepare for effective VR delivery.
Desi emphasized that the research was conducted using literature review analysis using the PICO method in online databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, and SINTA. For keywords, namely maternal (AND) virtual reality (AND) outcomes and pregnant women (AND) virtual reality (AND) outcomes. The search results were filtered using the PRISMA method
"This research is very interesting because it is not only a clinical medicine approach, but also an IT approach," he added.
Desi Together with 1,456 UM Surabaya students at the graduation at the 48th Graduation ceremony, the event which was held on October 29 2022 was held at the Dyandra Convention Center, Surabaya.
