UM Surabaya Hosts the 2022 Anti-Corruption Summit

As a form of commitment to eradicating university-based corruption, the KPK-RI plans to partner with the Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya (UM Surabaya) in holding the 2022 Anti-Corruption Summit (ACS).

ACS is a collaborative activity with the aim of developing the capacity of anti-corruption academics and implementing cooperation between the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and universities. The focus of ACS implementation is the establishment of an anti-corruption study center/study center, the implementation of anti-corruption education, and increasing studies and literacy with the theme of corruption in various tertiary institutions.

In his visit to Muhammadiyah University Surabaya (29/10/2021) ACS Steering Committee and Partnership Executive Director, Laode M.Syarif said "collaborating with UMSurabaya is a collaborative step, because it is considered to have a track record in developing a university-based anti-corruption study center and can develop other new anti-corruption study centers, including in realizing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education," he said.

Besides that, Sukadiono, Chancellor of UM Surabaya expressed his support regarding the plan to appoint the 5th ACS to be held at UM Surabaya.

"In principle the university and PP Muhammadiyah have practiced the values of integrity in institutional governance, including in making policies. UM Surabaya already has a Center for Anti-Corruption and Democracy Studies (PUSAD) to carry out this program, we really support the collaboration forged between the KPK- RI and universities and hope that the anti-corruption movement can be expanded in the implementation of ACS 2022." said Sukadiono.

During the visit and preparation for ACS 2022, Ningrum Sirait was also present as the ACS Steering Committee, Indira Zachiyah and Yadi Specialist for KPK Collaboration, Deputy Chancellor 1 and Deputy Chancellor 4 UM Surabaya and Deputy Dean 1 and Deputy Dean 2 Faculty of Law UM Surabaya.

KPK hopes that through ACS 2022, KPK together with stakeholders in the eradication of corruption, especially the academic community, can work together and amplify discussions in this forum. So that it can formulate a work plan that contributes positively to future tertiary-based corruption prevention programs.
