University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya (UM Surabaya) opens opportunities for students who memorize the Qur'an who wish to continue their education through the tahfidz scholarship route in 2021/2022. Registration for this scholarship has been open since December 6, 2021.
As a quality private university (PTS), UM Surabaya consistently opens tahfidz scholarships for students who memorize the Qur'an from year to year. This scholarship is a form of appreciation and university pride for students throughout Indonesia who memorize the Qur'an and excel.
Ma'ruf Sya'ban vice-chancellor 3 in charge of innovation, human resources and student affairs explained that the tahfidz scholarship aims to motivate students to maintain Islamic values and increase student capacity in tahfidz al-Qur'an.
"This is not the first time the university has opened a tahfidz scholarship. This scholarship has been around for the last few years. This is proof that the university continues to be committed to paying attention to tahfidzul Qur'an as well as improving education both through academic and non-academic channels," said Ma'ruf when met in his room.
Ma'ruf also explained that students who pass the tahfidz scholarship will be given full scholarships starting from free building fees, education funds except for forms, her registration per semester, UTS/UAS and practicum except for the Faculty of Medicine (FK)
"The requirements for obtaining this scholarship are that prospective students must at least memorize 3 juz, besides that prospective students are willing to sign a contract with the Alumni and Innovation Student Administration Bureau (BAKAI). Furthermore, students will be given a memorization test, after being declared passed students will receive scholarship rights," added Ma'ruf.
At the end of his presentation, Ma'ruf also explained that improving the quality of education is the main concern in improving various types of educational services. He hopes that this scholarship will be able to produce graduates who are Islamic and excel in integrating knowledge with Islamic values so that they are able to participate in development programs both religious, national and social.
