Improving Graduate Skills, FIK UM Surabaya Collaborates with INKAVIN East Java

Faculty of Health Sciences (FIK) Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya (UM Surabaya) Collaborated with the East Java Indonesian Association of Cardiovascular Nurses (INKAVIN) by holding training on basic ECG interpretation and therapeutic communication. The event, which took place from 24-28 January 2022, is a series of pre-educational activities for nurses for the nurse profession program at FIK UM Surabaya. The purpose of this training is to prepare students before carrying out practical training as a provision for taking the Nurse Profession program.

The event which took place at the AT Tauhid Tower Building, 13th Floor, UM Surabaya, was attended by 102 students. The first three days the participants received EKG material and the next two days received therapeutic communication training and was directly driven by the Health Entrepreneur Center Unit (HEC) FIK UMSuarabaya.

Nur Mukarromah, Dean of FIK UM Surabaya in his speech responded positively to this activity, according to him this training activity was very important because it played an important role in producing nursing experts in Indonesia.

"The existence of this training can improve the competence of nurses, which is of course very much needed when they are in the hospital," said Nur Mukarromah.

The facilitator for this training, Suyatno Hadi Saputro, explained that EKG is a science that studies the electrical activity of the heart. This ECG is very close to health workers, especially nurses

"Hopefully after this training, the Nursing program students are able to find out all the conditions experienced by patients through the results of the heart recording, then the communication skills between nurses and patients can help the patient recover so it is very important that a professional nurse will try in every interaction to be carried out therapeutically to provide health impact” he explained.

Rusta Fariningsih, the speaker of therapeutic communication at this training event, explained that caring is an approach to increase care for clients.
