There is something unique about the implementation of Mastama, Ordik and UKM Expo (MOX) for new UM Surabaya students this year. The campus, which is known as a campus of a million innovations, is again using film as a means of introducing the campus environment to thousands of new students, uniquely in the inauguration process for freshmen of UM Surabaya using a method inspired by the squid game film on Monday (October 4, 2021)

The film, played by new students wearing green jackets, tells the story of the new students' struggles towards the inauguration competition. It is said that hundreds of students receive strange invitations to compete in children's games, and only two persistent students are able to complete them.

The production process for the UM Surabaya version of the squid game film has implemented strict health protocols. The actors were confirmed to have received the second dose of vaccine and underwent swabs prior to production. During the briefing, also fully use masks and keep your distance.

"The choice of the Squid game as a campus introduction medium is not without reason, because the film is currently popular and is in great demand by many people, this year we are inaugurating thousands of new students with various agendas. In addition to speeches that present various national figures, we also present an action to write a digital letter for the president." Said Agus Budiman as the chief executive of this year's MOX.

As many as 2,058 new students will send digital letters to President Joko Widodo, new students write and send digital letters that are created through the system, then posted on their respective social media. This is done as hope and optimism for Indonesia to progress.

Meanwhile, UM Surabaya Chancellor Sukadiono explained that the campus introduction event had gone smoothly, there was no hazing, everyone was prioritizing creativity to independent learning through synchronous and asynchronous methods, as well as through various kinds of new, creative agendas and social projects.

"Thank God, MOX went smoothly, 2,058 new students attended in an orderly and smooth manner. With digitalization everything is easier, I hope UM Surabaya will always give birth to a generation of champions,"

"This year UM Surabaya provides 10 scholarships for athletes, 10 tahfidz scholarships, 4 fully funded scholarship programs to foreign students (Sudan, USA, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and others who are currently doing inbond credit transfers," he concluded.
