9 Students and Athletes who competed in PON XX Papua received appreciation and bonuses from the University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya. Bonuses were given directly by the Chancellor and his staff in a welcoming and friendly ceremony which was held at the 12th floor of the At-Tauhid building.
As stated by the chancellor at the release of students who will compete in PON XX Papua, that they will get a bonus from the university if they get a medal or win. A number of prizes have been provided, one of which is a bonus totaling tens of millions of Rupiah for athletes who get medals.
Based on the data obtained, East Java is in second place in the standings with 110 medals. 9 students and athletes from the University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya from various sports have donated 28 Medals.
The total number of medals won by UM Surabaya athletes was 5 Gold, 7 Silver and 1 Bronze. Fatchur Roji (FEB Student) from rock climbing won 3 Gold and 1 Silver, Rahmad Adi (FEB Student) from rock climbing won 2 silver, Kharisma Ragil (FEB Student) from rock climbing won 1 Gold and 2 Silver , Choirul Umi (FEB Student) from rock climbing won 1 gold and 1 silver, Pradeva Adelia (FEB Student) from rock climbing won 1 Bronze, Sisilia Agustiani Ora from karate won 1 Silver.
Fatchur Roji, as one of the athletes who won the most gold medals in rock climbing, expressed his gratitude for the support and bonuses given by the university to the athletes. "We thank you profusely because the university has supported us not only today, but when we are all going to compete in the 2021 PON, this will be a separate energy for us who will compete," he said.
On this occasion the Chancellor of UM Surabaya also expressed his pride for the 9 athletes who won medals. "We are proud of the hard work and achievements of the athletes, especially from UM Surabaya students, because besides you have made East Java proud, you have all made the campus proud with extraordinary efforts while competing in the 2021 PON," said Sukadiono.
In addition to the bonuses given to athletes as a form of appreciation, UM Surabaya also provides scholarships to all athletes. Athlete scholarships are given in the form of waiver of all educational costs which are dead while athletes are in college. This is one of the campus' commitments to continue to open opportunities for anyone who wants to take and gain access to education from various backgrounds and professions.
