Reactualization of AIK Education, LPAIK UM Surabaya Participates in the 1st National Conference

The 1st National Association of AIK Association (ALAIK) PTMA Conference (Munas) was held in Jogjakarta for two days on Saturday-Sunday 5-6 February 2022. Sutrisno, speaker at the AIK national seminar, explained the functions and quality standards of AIK towards a progressive PTMA.

"AIK's function must be actualized, not just as a subject of discussion. That AIK must be prioritized at PTMA, not as a sideline, so that awareness of PTMA managers becomes an important weapon so that AIK can be implemented in a real way at PTMA," said Sutrisno.

Previously, at the opening ceremony, Noor Rochman Hadjam, vice chairman of the Muhammadiyah Education and Training Council, in his remarks stated that AIK's role in PTMA is the spirit, values, foundation of scientific and cadre development.

"In the 2nd Century, Muhammadiyah's da'wah direction is committed to carrying three big agendas, including internationalization of Muhammadiyah, digitalization of Muhammadiyah da'wah, development of Muhammadiyah science and technology. In order for these three agendas to be realized, there needs to be a spirit of movement in Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyaan Education (AIK) at Muhammadiyah Aisyiyah College (PTMA)," he explained.

Arin Setyowati, ALAIK National Conference Participant from Muhammmadiyah University Surabaya (UM Surabaya), as the head of LPAIK UM Surabaya stated that the 1st ALAIK National Conference was a momentum for uniting hopes and dreams so that AIK became mainstreaming in PTMA.

"The meeting with the managers of AIK institutions at the National Conference yesterday confirmed that the task of the AIK Institute is to optimize and revive the study, education and practice of AIK in PTMA so that they are in line with the functions of PTMA which are part of the regeneration efforts and grow Muhammadiyah ideology in AUM Higher Education," said the Head of LPAIK UM Surabaya.

Arin added that he hopes that the new ALAIK management will be able to gather the strength of AIK institutions in 164 PTMAs so that better institutional governance can be created and optimally manage human resources in the AIK internalization process at PTMA, especially at UM Surabaya.

This Agenda also formulated three major agendas for the re-actualization of AIK education in PTM/Aisyiyah throughout Indonesia. First, strengthening human resources at PTMA. The position of the AIK lecturer at PTMA is important and main as a reactualization actor on this agenda. In order to realize this agenda, AIK lecturers at PTMA must be qualified and excellent.

In addition, lecturers are required to have doctoral degrees (S3) both domestically and abroad and are encouraged to qualify to become professors. AIK lecturers at PTMA must also be actively involved in the world of research which aims to build a road map for the development of Muhammadiyah science and technology, especially in the era of disruption.

Second, the development of AIK education (learning) at PTMA. AIK education at PTMA is patterned by combining Islamic scholarship, Muhammadiyah, and socio-scientific science. In AIK education must be able to answer the problems that exist in contemporary society (disruptive society). The AIK education pattern must be encouraged by the habit of learning to think independently, the habit of doing research, and the development of skills to be able to move in society.

Third, strengthening the AIK institution in PTMA. On this agenda, all stakeholders, starting from the PP Muhammadiyah Diktilitbang Assembly and Rectorate ranks in all PTMAs, must have one voice by giving more attention to AIK institutions in PTMA through policies that provide funding support and program activities for AIK institutions.
