Explosion has a very dangerous threshold for hearing organs, especially for vital organs such as the brain, heart, lungs and others.
"The sound of firecrackers has a frequency of 150-175 decibels while in humans it is in the range of 30-90 decibels," said Gina Saturday (29/4/23)
Gina said that pressure that is too large beyond the limit can be damaging by sensitizing the brainstem which also has many functions such as the respiratory center, hearing, and temperature regulation.
"So apart from impaired hearing, the great pressure generated from the sound of firecrackers can be a trigger factor if the baby has abnormalities from birth, for example congenital heart disease, seizures during infancy and others.
"So, the cause of ruptured vessels is not the main causative factor and other supporting factors must be seen from the baby," added Gina again.
He explained, the loud sound of firecrackers was not necessarily the cause, but could be the initial trigger for the condition to occur.
Gina also revealed that babies still have the moro reflex, or startle reflex, which can appear when a loud sound occurs. He said, babies under 60 days old are prone to head injuries.
Finally, Gina appealed to parents to be more aware of the games children use when playing, this aims to avoid unwanted things like in this case.
