Winning Many Medals, Khofifah Wants to Escort UM Surabaya Athletes to the 2024 Olympics

Reception for Milad Muhammadiyah 109, East Java Muhammadiyah Regional Leaders gave awards to 7 UM Surabaya athletes who won medals in PON XX Papua (27/11/2021). The seven students from the UM Surabaya Faculty of Economics and Business are Eko Febriyanto, Fahrur Rozy, Rachmad Adi, Kharisma Ragil, Khoirul Umi, Pradeva Adelia and Sisilia Agustiani.

The event which was held at the East Java Regional Leadership building was also attended by the Governor of East Java, the general secretary of PP Muhammadiyah, the general chairman of the East Java PWM and the Chancellor of UM Surabaya.

Khofifah expressed her pride for the UM Surabaya athletes who contributed many medals for East Java at the 2021 PON event last October. Khofifah conveyed her gratitude to the Chancellor of UM Surabaya, who has great athletes.

"Mr. Chancellor of UM Surabaya, thank you, it's extraordinary that UM Surabaya has born athletes who hopefully will be Olympic sports athletes. We want to oversee it specifically, because we are preparing in 2024 for the upcoming Olympics, we are currently mapping athletes who must be escorted specifically so that they can build the highest achievements. Because the Olympics have a lot of dreams for athletes in Olympic sports," said Khofifah in her remarks.

At the end of the event, Sukadiono as Chancellor of Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya expressed his pleasure with what was conveyed by the Governor of East Java and the appreciation given by PWM East Java, this shows the university's efforts to produce outstanding students in this case national athletes supported by all parties.

"In the future, in line with the Provincial Government's plan, the university will continue to provide assistance to UM Surabaya athletes specifically to face the 2024 Olympics," said Sukadiono.
