Deputy Minister of Manpower (Wamenaker) of the Republic of Indonesia Afriansyah Noor giving a public lecture at Muhamamdiyah University Surabaya (UM Surabaya) during the Student Taaruf Period (Mastama) at the At-Tauhid Tower Building on Thursday (29/9/22)

The Deputy Minister of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet was accompanied by Sukadiono, the Chancellor of UM Surabaya and his staff who were enthusiastically welcomed by 2035 new students.

In his speech, Sukadiono said that the arrival of the Deputy Minister of Manpower to UM Surabaya was something extraordinary. He asked the Deputy Manpower to share his youth experiences as well as his career journey so that he was as successful as he is now. This is a motivation and an example that can be passed on to students as a provision to navigate life.

"Hopefully the arrival of the Deputy Minister of Labor this afternoon will bring blessings to the development of the UM Surabaya campus. Thankfully, we can collaborate and work together," said Suko in front of thousands of students.

Meanwhile, in his public lecture presentation, the Deputy Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia conveyed a number of important messages to new students, including that in this all-digital era students are asked to do more practice than theory.

"Currently, job opportunities in Indonesia are not comparable to people looking for work. According to data, 8.4 million Indonesians do not have a job. This means that today's young generation must have quality skills,” he said.

Being a student is an honor because not all children have the opportunity to study at universities. He advised to take advantage of the opportunity to practice skills.

“Studying is important. Hanging out and being organized is also very important. It means to be a quality student and a graduate who counts, you have to have good time management so you can share the two of them," he added.

He also hopes that in the future UM Surabaya can collaborate with the Employment Sector to get proper educational skills training. Such as language training education and others.

"My hope is that the 2035 students who attended this afternoon will become a well-educated generation and have extraordinary achievements. From UM Surabaya, quality ministers were born who will become the relay of leadership in the future," he concluded.
