Strengthening the Scientific Network, UM Surabaya Holds an International Conference

University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya will hold the 1st International Multidisciplinary Conference on Potential Research on December 15-16 2021. The theme of this conference was chosen because the role of multidisciplinary research is considered very important in strengthening scientific networks, especially in the higher education environment.

Deputy Rector IV, Mundakir explained that in this year's international conference, there are several scopes including; economics, accounting and business, law and social sciences, health and medicine, and engineering and applied sciences.

"The scope of these themes was chosen because we realize that higher education plays a much needed role in facing the dynamic challenges going forward," said Mundakir.

Strengthening superior human resources is also an emphasis, ability and mastery of scientific disciplines are part of the strategy to produce superior human resources.

“This international conference is one aspect of becoming qualified in the global era. In the current era where everyone is locked down because of Covid 19, while academic activities must continue. This conference is in line with UM Surabaya's vision as an international standard university so that it can compete globally. Furthermore, an international conference with the theme of research potential for UM Surabaya academics to strengthen scientific networks and establish cooperation with international university partners," he added.

Meanwhile, the Chancellor of UM Surabaya, Sukadiono, welcomed this conference.

"We must prepare higher education graduates who are superior, moral, intelligent and have an entrepreneurial spirit, master their respective disciplines, competence as a problem solver is a must. Higher education must encourage research learning and community service so that it becomes a bridge capable of having a direct impact," he said.

This international conference will be attended by Jhonny G. Plate Minister of Communication and Informatics of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Sandiaga Salahudin Uno Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, HE Al Busyro Basnur Ambassador of Indonesia for Ethiopia, Djibouti, and African Union, Prof. Andrew McIntyre Monash University, Prof. Kevin Fogg University of North Carolina, Prof. Stefan Koos Universität der Bundeswehr München, Dr. dr. Sukadiono, MM. Muhammadiyah University Surabaya, Andrea Liu Taiwan Medical University.

Participants in this international conference will be followed from academics, practitioners, as well as lecturers and students both domestically and abroad.
