Becoming a doctor is the dream of many people. Including Clevia Revi Maretha. Clevia is the best graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya at her 47th graduation today (20/11/2021). Clevia Revi Maretha, a student from Jombang, entered FK UM Surabaya in 2017. Since she was young, this student has wanted to become a doctor. There is motivation from his father to become a doctor who can help people who are weak in the economy to access health facilities. However, in 2013 Clevia had to be abandoned by her father who died due to illness.
Clevia admitted that she received many exams while living life as a student at the Faculty of Medicine. In the middle of college, his mother fell ill and had to be hospitalized. A lot of money is needed for the care of his mother and costs for tuition.
“I thought about dropping out of college because the family's economic condition was down. Then I decided to go to college while working as a private tutor for more than 1 semester. So, from morning to evening I lecture and from evening to night I teach. Because if I don't work, I can't meet my needs in Surabaya,” said Clevia.
This graduation was an unforgettable moment for Clevia. With a sad expression on his face he expressed his happiness.
"Father, finally your son can achieve my dream, can do what you want. Thank God, 4 years of struggle to become a medical student have passed with all the shortcomings and struggles," Clevia said with emotion.
Meanwhile, Sukadiono, the Chancellor of UMSurabaya, revealed that Clevia was an example of an enviable struggle. Clevia proves that hard work never betrays results.
“Clevia proved to be the best amidst limitations. This is a great example for medical students. Amidst the heavy burden of studying, he can still work and what's great is that he is the best," said Sukadiono on the sidelines of the graduation ceremony.
