UM Surabaya athletes won 2 champions in the 2021 East Java Province Jujitsu Championship (25/11/2021). The championship, which was held at the Widya Kartika Surabaya building, was attended by 185 participants from various regions in East Java.

Nahrisyah (Law Faculty student) won 3rd place in the female newaza category in class E while Aisa  female (FEB student) also won 3rd place in the female Newaza category in the 50 kg class. Both admitted that they were constrained by the lack of practice before competing because the schedule given by the organizing committee was quite sudden.

The two semester 1 students are quite proud even with minimal training due to the pandemic. But both of them were still able to bring home the trophy and make the university proud.

"From this 3rd place winner, I am motivated to keep fighting to be 1st place. This championship is my warm-up championship to welcome the upcoming Porprov VII. I will continue to try to be the first in the next championship, "explained Aisa in a written statement.

Junaidy Fery Effendi Head of Student Affairs and Innovation Bureau (BAKAI) UM Surabaya appreciates the achievements students have achieved in this first semester.

Aisa and Nahrisyah have proven that even though they are only in semester 1, they have shown good achievements and contributions. This is a good start, we should appreciate and support the achievements at the provincial level so that the achievements that have been achieved do not stop here," said Junaidy

Junaidy also added that this Jujitsu championship is a prestigious championship. A great pride for the university, UM Surabaya athletes won 3rd place in this championship. The university will continue to accompany these outstanding athletes to prepare Porprov VII to get better results.
