The achievement of proud academic and non-academic achievements is something that must be appreciated. This has been a commitment of UM Surabaya for a long time.

Mohammad Nizar Faroid, a student majoring in Management, deserves to be happy for his hard work which has yielded proud results. Nizar, his nickname, has successfully completed his studies by winning the title of graduate with the most achievements this year.

During college, this student from Surabaya made many national and international achievements. According to Nizar, three very memorable achievements were winning 1st place in men's singles in the Paku Bumi Cup event, secondly winning 2nd place in men's singles in the Airlangga Tapak Suci International Championship, and lastly winning a world-class award, namely the winner of the male armed singles.

Nizar, the recipient of this athlete scholarship, is committed to continuing to excel, because the support provided by this campus is truly extraordinary.

"UM Surabaya not only provides knowledge and experience, but UM Surabaya also provides real assistance in the form of athlete scholarships for anyone who excels, this commitment really helps my learning process. I am sure that other athletes will also feel the same way about this scholarship," he said.

Apart from being active in competitions, Nizar has served as general chairman of tapak Suci for the 2018-2019 period and the 2019-2020 period. All of this was done to gain experience and gain knowledge outside of the Management department.

"For me, just going to college is less fun. In the end, I joined an UKM that was able to hone soft skills and build relationships. You only live once, so it must be meaningful. I have a principle that I always want to be a player, not a spectator," he added.

Meanwhile, in a brief interview with the athlete's father, Tapak Suci hopesso that their children are not quickly satisfied with the achievements that have been achieved.

"Continue to spread kindness and benefit others. Do not be arrogant and easily satisfied with what has been achieved, the achievements achieved are used as a whip to continue achieving, “advice that is often conveyed to his son.

This student who won an athlete scholarship said that completing his studies was not easy amidst his busy schedule. He also has great responsibility in lecture assignments. When completing his thesis he experienced various obstacles due to the pandemic, everyone had to adapt to these conditions so that it affected the process of completing the thesis research.

"In the process of completing my studies to get a Bachelor of Economics degree was not easy, I had to face a lot of struggles and sacrifices, especially time management between college and UKM Tapak Suci," he said.

All the processes he has gone through cannot be separated from the role of his parents and tapak Suci mentors who always support him in participating in competitions. At the end of the interview, Nizar gave tips for students taking lectures to stay enthusiastic about achieving their dreams by managing a good schedule and developing their potential.

“Never limit yourself to being active in academic and non-academic activities. Because if you can do both why do you have to be one?” he concluded.

In his remarks, Sukadiono, the Chancellor of UM Surabaya, appreciated the 12 achievements that this student athlete had achieved.

"I'm sure UM Surabaya is proud to have potential cadres like Nizar, I'm sure there are many other Nizars who are currently graduating. That is why UM Surabaya continues to be committed to providing athlete scholarships or other scholarships, because the achievements that have been achieved are not easy and require a long process. Happy graduation, be a competent graduate who has global insight, has faith and has noble character and has a Muhammadiyah personality and becomes a role model in the Muhammadiyah organization of the nation and state," he concluded.
