Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah Inaugurates Two New UM Surabaya Buildings

Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya (UMSurabaya) as one of the best Muhammadiyah Universities (PTM) in Indonesia, progress in the field of development is an important marker. Coinciding with the Ramadan study that was held at UM Surabaya by the Regional Leadership (PWM) of East Java, UM Surabaya also inaugurated two new buildings namely the integrated laboratory building for the Faculty of Engineering and the Innovation and Business Center Building which was inaugurated by the General Chairperson of the Muhammadiyah Central Executive (PP) Haedhar Nashir on Sunday (3/4/22)

In his remarks, Sukadiono, the Chancellor of UM Surabaya, said that the six-story Faculty of Engineering Integrated Laboratory Building had been completed last January.

"Please be pleased that the General Chairperson of PP Muhammadiyah is pleased to sign the inscription at the Innovation and Business Center Building. This building used to be the Muhammadiyah Da'wah Building (GDM) in Surabaya City, which we swapped over with the Muhammadiyah Da'wah Building on Jalan Wuni," he asked.

Furthermore, Suko explained that development would continue to be carried out to confirm academic progress supported by adequate progress of business units for the future development of UM Surabaya.

"To this day UM Surabaya is still continuing the construction of the At Taawun Tower Building which will become the pride of UM Surabaya, within one year UM Surabaya will also complete study programs in the health sector by proposing the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG)," said Suko.

He emphasized that to support the realization of FKG, UM Surabaya will also build a Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM) which hopefully can be realized in 2023.

"We hope that At-Taawun will be built, and the two new buildings that have just been inaugurated as the spirit of ta'awun ala al-bir wa al-taqwa, namely giving and strengthening the main Islamic morals, which confirms the existence of UM Surabaya amidst the dynamic development of a global society. , "he added again.

Meanwhile Haedar Nasir in his speech appreciated the achievements that have been made by UM Surabaya which were very significant but he also reminded that building construction must be directly proportional to moral and intellectual heights. This means that it is not only good physically, but also in spirit to build the nation's morality, intellect, and entrepreneurial spirit.

“This building is part of Muhammadiyah's concern to build the nation with full dedication. This nation must also be a productive nation, Muhammadiyah wants this nation to progress, and this must be done with real work, not just discourse," he explained.

At the end of his statement, he emphasized that Muhammadiyah would continue to strive to educate superior and quality human resources. In this context, the fulfillment of learning support facilities and infrastructure is important. With the spirit of entrepreneurship and independence, Muhammadiyah builds centers of excellence like what UM Surabaya did.
