The Student Creativity Program (PKM) is one of the prestigious events in Indonesia which is held annually by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture. The aim is to accommodate student creativity so that they can produce innovations that can be beneficial for the development of science and the wider community.
Through this program, every student is given the opportunity to carry out research activities which are fully funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture. Apart from that, with the support in the form of funds, the opportunity to participate in this PKM can be used as an opportunity to gain prestigious experience at a national level. Because in carrying out a series of PKM agendas a rigorous and lengthy selection is required, especially since the competitors are all students in Indonesia.
UM Surabaya Student Affairs Khoirul Anam, shared tips on passing the Student Creativity Program (PKM) in order to get funding.
According to Irul, the first thing to do is form a creative group. In preparing PKM proposals, a solid team and qualified accompanying lecturers are needed so that they can create creative groups that support each other in producing innovative ideas.
Second, understanding the PKM guidelines, understanding the guidebook is one of the keys that cannot be left behind, because the preparation of a proposal cannot be separated from the provisions set out in the PKM guidebook.
"This is important to note because 60-65% of proposals are not funded due to administration disobedience," said Irul Friday (5/5/23)
Second, determine the type of PKM. Many students have creative ideas but are wrong in expressing ideas so that it seems futile and inappropriate, so it is necessary to understand what type of PKM to choose and adapt it to the ideas to be compiled.
"Students are important to ensure that the type of PKM chosen is in accordance with their interests and talents so that the process is easier," he added.
Third, increasing references, team discussions and supervisors. The next tip that can be applied is to increase reading references which will enrich student creativity and can produce innovative work that can be applied, discussions with the team and supervisors are also important points in supporting the preparation of proposals, because from the discussion process many unique ideas will emerge that can be developed.
Fourth, always update the latest information. In order not to miss information related to the implementation of PKM students must regularly update the information provided, identify what information is hotly discussed in the community and always pay attention to the latest issues. This means that students need to keep abreast of the latest information.
Fifth, verification of administrative completeness and substance of the proposal. The last tip that can be done is to verify the administrative completeness and substance of the proposal.
"Because this is also the reviewer's concern in considering whether the proposal that has been prepared is worthy of passing or not, so at this point it should not escape the attention of students," concluded Irul.
