Every year, there are many domestic and foreign scholarships that can be accessed from the undergraduate, postgraduate, to doctoral levels. Scholarship providers range from the government, private companies, BUMN, national and international NGOs as well as domestic and foreign universities.

Head of the UM Surabaya Alumni and Innovation Student Administration Bureau (BAKAI) Khoirul Anam shared 4 things that can make someone fail to win a scholarship.

First, do not understand the type of scholarship intended. According to him, someone who only carelessly registers and does not understand the type of scholarship he is aiming for will easily fail the initial selection.

"Registration with the intention of trial and error is sometimes not in accordance with the interests or talents possessed, so it is unlikely to qualify," said Irul Thursday (6/7/23)

Second, do not complete important and supporting documents. Due to not understanding the type of scholarship at the beginning, this resulted in the incompleteness of the required documents, so that the documents submitted were impressed as they were and did not meet the requirements.

Third, do not prepare for the interview. It turned out that the mistakes at the beginning also resulted in readiness in facing the interview session, when it was in the wrong room it had an impact during the interview session, so that it seemed unfavorable and not ready to answer questions.

Fourth, do not prepare the essay properly. In certain institutions, essays are usually one of the conditions for getting a scholarship so that they are important things that should not be underestimated. Essay writing must be adjusted to the terms and conditions provided, so that essay writing is not random and random.

"From the points above, it can be a concern for scholarship seekers to be able to prepare the scholarship requirements properly and not underestimate the terms and conditions that apply, in order to minimize failures," concluded Khoirul.
