The issue of waqf is still a challenge for waqf managers, especially in the city of Surabaya, as one of the urban areas which has now become a densely populated office city so that the existing land has become non-productive land.
This condition is certainly a challenge in itself for waqf management in the city of Surabaya, especially for partners who are targeted in the 2023 Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology's Community Partnership Empowerment (PKM) grant program, namely the Muhammadiyah Surabaya Waqf Utilization Council.
Dian Berkah, Chair of this program, said that the application created by his team was presented to provide a literacy solution for the utilization of waqf assets for waqf managers (nadzir), who so far have only carried out the role of waqf recipients, while the utilization process has been handed over to institutions in Muhammadiyah.
"The GNE Apps application was created starting from partners' problems regarding limitations in providing solutions for utilizing waqf assets which so far have only been allocated as non-productive charitable businesses such as educational institutions, mosques and orphanages," said Dian Monday (11/9/23)
He said that the presence of this application is certainly hoped to be the answer for waqf managers in utilizing waqf assets into productive business charities in the form of productive and progressive sharia investments.
The GNE Apps application contains 4 domains, namely good nadzir e-modules, financial, tutorials and waqf eligibility. It is hoped that these 4 domains can help develop managerial skills regarding the utilization of waqf assets.
"This application can now be accessed via the Google Play Store for Android with the following link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.lordfarhan.goodnazhireducation&pli=1," he concluded.
