Rony Rembo Prasetyo Wisudawan UM Surabaya (Humas)
Stories of inspiring graduates also came from students of the Faculty of Engineering, Marine Engineering Study Program, M. Rony Rembo Prasetyo, because the class of 2019 student managed to graduate quickly in 3.5 years and was accepted to work before graduation. Not only that, Rembo also managed to get a cumlaude GPA of 3.72.
The graduate from Sukodadi Lamongan District apparently stopped one year after graduating from SMK Negeri 2 Lamongan for some reason. After one year, Rembo was successfully accepted at UM Surabaya majoring in marine engineering. Not only being an mediocre student, it seems that apart from being active in campus organizations as Deputy Chairperson of Hima, Rembo was also the team leader in a national unmanned fast boat contest, he even became a finalist in this prestigious event. Rembo and his team took part in the manufacture and performance of a prototype electric fast boat with a remote control system (Electric Remote Control/ERC) with the mission of destroying air defenses.
When completing his final assignment, Rembo took the research title "Analysis of the Effect of Bilga Radius Variations on Resistance and Fuel Efficiency of Ro_Ro Ships"
Despite the convenience that Rembo has experienced to this day, he admits that before graduating he had submitted several applications at several companies, but had not been accepted. He admitted that after attending the graduation he received a call from PT Dok Pantai Lamongan, he was summoned to attend an interview. It was from there that Rembo was finally accepted and worked in the logistics section which focused on company SOPs for purchasing materials from ships.
When asked about tips for graduating quickly and being accepted for work early, Rembo admitted that being a student you have to plan everything from the start. He also emphasized that he could graduate quickly with good grades, that is, by not procrastinating on assigned assignments, that was also one of the keys to cum laude Grade Point Average (GPA).
"So I always take 24 credits in each semester, and of course I balance it with consistent learning activities," he said Friday (2/6/23)
In his statement, Rembo also shared tips on getting a job before graduation. According to him, the first is that being a student should be active in organizations, both Hima and outside Hima, this is important in broadening knowledge, communication skills and increasing relationships.
Both are always responsive in academic activities, don't delay work and have a high curiosity in the science they study.
Third, take advantage of non-academic opportunities such as competitions, both at the regional, national and international levels to add to your portfolio.
Lastly, always try, pray and ask for the blessing of your parents in everything you do.
"I always hold fast to this sentence Man Jadda Wajada, which means whoever is serious will definitely succeed," concluded Rembo.
