UM Surabaya Athletes Win 9 Gold in the Bandung Lautan Api Championship

The Bandung Sea of Fire championship 3 is one of the biggest pencak silat tournaments in Indonesia since the Covid-19 pandemic. Taking place at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) futsal gymnasium Jatinagor, UM Surabaya athletes won championships in the art category and fighter category on December 20-21 2021. Fitri Nuraida, a gold medalist, said that preparations for this competition had been prepared from the start. It took them three weeks to prepare for training before jumping into competitions and competing against hundreds of athletes from various universities.

"I feel very happy when all the UM Surabaya tapak Suci teams come home with champions. In addition to maximum preparation, the main weapon is prayer, because effort without prayer is arrogant, praying without effort is a lie," said Fitri in a written statement.

Fitri, a seventh semester student, added that the excellence of Tapak Suci athletes at UM Surabaya has a strong technical base. Supported by coaches who master various moves and techniques. This capital allows athletes to adapt and compete well.

"I hope that this achievement does not stop here, in the near future the UM Surabaya team at Tapak Suci will prepare for the POMDA championship. In the future the UM Surabaya athlete team will be more active in preparing both physically and mentally," added Fitri.

Meanwhile Ma'ruf Sya'ban the vice chancellor in charge of human resources and student affairs appreciated the achievements that had been achieved by eleven athletes UM Surabaya's sacred footprint.

"Bandung Sea of Fire Championship 2021 is a prestigious event that has existed since the pandemic. Tapak Suci athletes from UM Surabaya won 9 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.
