The Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya (UM Surabaya) Jujitsu Team bought medals in the Ngawi Regent's Cup championship on 18-20 February 2022. The championship which took place at the Bung Hatta Sports Building, Ngawi Regency, was attended by 200 Jujitsu athletes.

The Jujitsu athlete from UM Surabaya won 5 medals including 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals. Athletes who won the medals included Arin Yevi Putri-Silver Medal (Faculty of Law), Aida Siti-Silver Medal (Faculty of Economics and Business), Aisa Putri-Silver Medal (Faculty of Economics and Business), Nahrisyah-2 Bronze Medals (Faculty of Law) ).

Junaidi Fery Efendi, Head of Student Affairs and Innovation Administration Bureau (BAKAI) UM Surabaya when met in his room explained that the ability of UM Surabaya Jujitsu athletes was not in doubt. Even though Jujitsu is a Student Activity Unit (UKM) that is still relatively new at UM Surabaya, it already has a lot of experience by winning various championships.

"As an UKM which is said to be new at UM Surabaya, this achievement is quite encouraging, but I keep reminding all athletes not to feel satisfied quickly. There are still many targets that must be pursued by these athletes, "Junaidi said.

Junaidi also added that he would continue to support and facilitate these outstanding athletes so that later they would be able to make them athletes competing at the international level and make the university proud.

Arin Vevi Putri, an athlete who won a silver medal in this match, told how she struggled before the championship. According to him, the obstacle that was enough to frighten him was the condition that the spread of Covid-19 had continued to increase in the last few weeks, so that the training schedule had to undergo many adjustments.

“I feel happy to be the champion in this competition, even though it is constrained by the lack of time for training. However, after successfully bringing home this medal, I will continue to work harder at training to become a professional Jujitsu athlete," said Arin in a written statement.

Arin is also grateful to get a lot of support from UM Surabaya so that he can not only get lecture material but still be able to pursue his dream of becoming an athlete capable of scoring many achievements.
