University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya (UM Surabaya) dispatched 1,114 students to conduct Community Service Program (KKN) to a number of regions in Indonesia. The opening and release which was released directly by the Vice Chancellor 1 of UM Surabaya M. Ridlwan was held at the At Tauhid Tower Building on Thursday (26/7/23)

It is known, this year there are eight types of KKN that UM Surabaya students can choose from. Among them are the Muhammadiyah Aisyiah KKN throughout Indonesia which will be carried out in the Bangka Belitung Islands, the Empowered KKN will be held in four districts (Tuban, Lamongan, Pamekasan and Gresik). The National Partnership KKN will be conducted in Kuala Lumpur, Malasya. KKN 3T was conducted in Raja Ampat, West Papua. PCR KKN in Surabaya. KKN Learning Express in collaboration with Singapore Polytechnic in Paciran District and Thematic KKN in Surabaya and Tuban.

M. Ridlwan in his remarks said that this year's KKN took the theme of the Innovation Expedition of Service, Evidence, Gemati with the hope that KKN students who are involved in the community will make a big contribution in society, especially the innovative products brought will help the community in solving various problems. .

"So students who are doing KKN this year have brought the products needed by the community, these products have indeed been prepared after field research students are related to problems that occur in the field," said Ridlwan.

Meanwhile, Dede Nasrullah, Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service, emphasized that this year's Community Service Program was deliberately focused on five problems in East Java, including; health, agriculture, digitalization of village systems, educational innovation and development of coastal community areas.

"There are 13 innovative products from students which are deliberately made because they are based on community needs, and three from lecturer innovations which will also be used at the KKN location. So there are 16 in total,” said Dede.

The innovative products from these students include the following:

The health innovation consists of a microcontroller-based color blindness diagnostic system using the Ishihara method and a smart infusion detector.

Agricultural innovations consist of: Instant drying of grain (rice) so that it does not depend on the sun's heat. Portable Agro Detection Tool (IoT Based) to overcome crop failure and appropriate technology for drum type rice planters.

Village system digitalization innovations consist of: E-SAMB improving public services "E-SAMB" for the community of Sebunganyar village, Gresik, East Java through a monitoring system based on QR code scanning and loan-free chatbots as a loan-free education and consultation service medium.

Educational Innovation consists of the Smart Pop Up Book and the Si Geo adventure application as a medium for learning mathematics for the mentally impaired.

The development of the Coastal Community Area consists of: Innovative tools for making animal feed from crab shell waste. A tool for detecting automatic house fires in Gresik changing housing and cataract glasses: smart glasses integrated "eye monitor" solutions for preventing and maintaining the eye health of fishermen in Arosbaya village.
