2 Amputee Football Team Athletes Become UM Surabaya Students

Khusnul Yakin and Fredo Dimas Saputro, two amputee football athletes from the Indonesian National Team, officially became UM Surabaya students after registering in batch 3.

Khusnul Yakin is a football athlete from the city of Surabaya, he has successfully qualified to represent the Indonesian National Team (Timnas) to compete in the Amputation Football World Cup in Turkey in October 2022.

Not only that, Khusnul Yakin is one of six people from East Java Province who became part of the Indonesian Amputation Football Association (PSAI) National Team last June. Khusnul will start a Training Center (TC) in DKI Jakarta for two months before leaving for Turkey.

Meanwhile, Fredo Dimas Saputro, an athlete from Pasuruan, won the runner-up achievement in the Asian Cup Qualification football tournament championship in Bangladesh, which will lead him to represent Indonesia at the World Cup championship in Turkey next October.

These two athletes who are proud of Indonesia are majoring in Bachelor of Laws at UM Surabaya with an athlete scholarship route which is free of tuition fees in its entirety.

Meanwhile, UM Surabaya Chancellor Sukadiono said that as a university leader he was very proud of the 2 athletes who had just become UM Surabaya students. Both of them are able to prove by taking part in the role of Indonesia to compete on the world stage in October.

"I am proud that Mas Khusnul and Mas Fredo were able to set a positive example, even though they have limitations and shortcomings, both of them were able to prove to the world that they deserve to compete in this prestigious event," said Suko Thursday (1/9/22)

According to him, UM Surabaya has been consistent since the last 4 years giving full scholarships to all Indonesian athletes who wish to study at UM Surabaya.

"The rights to uphold higher education must be felt by all people, including citizens with special needs (WNBK) or disabilities," said Suko.
