Social media is horrified by the phenomenon of girlfriend rental services offering various rates ranging from 100 thousand to Rp 1.5 million per hour. Rent a girlfriend, which at first was busy on the Tiktok platform and became trending on Twitter, many claim that someone has already provided testimonials after using the rental service.

There are even service providers who have provided catalog facilities via the website. On this website, rented girlfriends can be invited to go on a date, accompany them shopping, hunt for food or accompany them to visit weddings. Meanwhile, the services provided can be in the form of taking photos together, holding hands, embracing shoulders, to going on dates together.

Radius Setiyawan, a Lecturer at the University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya (UM Surabaya) responded to the busy case. Radius said that the factors that make someone hire a girlfriend are high social demands as well as sexuality issues.

According to Radius, the phenomenon of renting a girlfriend on social media is part of the development of the times which has an impact on the convenience of communication tools so that someone can easily interact.

"I predict that in the future this phenomenon will be more extreme, the interactions are very likely not only to meet in the real world. It is very possible for someone to have sexual relations in the cyber world to satisfy their desires,” said Radius Thursday (3/11/22)

He said that along with the development and widespread use of the internet, it gave rise to a sexual revolution that allows a person to carry out sexual exploration that transcends cultural boundaries, gender, age, religion, nation, and even physical form.

"This self-expression can be channeled through social media, digital applications, interactive webcams, touch technology (sense of touch to girlfriend rental service applications," he added.

He called cyberspace anonymity, allowing someone to express with or without their real identity and at the same time can be used as a space to drive away boredom.

Radius explained that the speed of today's technology must be accompanied by the ability to build authoritative justification for sexual behavior in the cyber world.

"The goal is so that religion and culture do not experience stuttering in facing the future ((shock future)
