President Joko Widodo or Jokowi officially revoked the policy of Imposing Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) in Indonesia starting Friday (30/12). The revocation was not without reason because Jokowi assessed that the development of coronavirus cases in Indonesia had experienced a downward trend in cases in recent months.
In addition, Jokowi saw that the immunity or antibodies of the Indonesian population against Covid-19 were already high. Immunity is obtained both through the administration of the corona virus vaccine and post-infection immunity. Thus, there will be no more crowd restrictions and disbandment when a crowd occurs.
Lecturer at the UM Surabaya Faculty of Health Sciences (FIK) Idham Choliq said that even though the PPKM policy was revoked, it was still important for the community to pay attention to various things, especially habits during the pandemic to continue after the PPKM was lifted.
According to Idham, the first thing to do is continue to wear a mask in public. The use of masks is still necessary to prevent transmission of the Corona virus.
"Not only that, the use of masks is also useful for preventing exposure to air pollution, and the negative effects of sunlight and pollution. Especially when we are in a crowd of people, we should still use masks," said Idham Tuesday (3/1/23)
Second, the habit of washing hands. As we know, hands are a medium that is very vulnerable to carrying various disease agents into our bodies, so the habit of washing hands using soap and running water or using a hand sanitizer still needs to be maintained. This is very useful for preventing disease.
Third, keep checking. Even though PPKM has been revoked, it does not mean that Covid-19 has ended.
"Therefore, if we experience symptoms that lead to Covid-19, we should do testing for antifungals and the necessary treatment," he said again.
The last is to keep doing vaccines for people who haven't done it yet. The end of PPKM does not mean the end of the Covid-19 vaccination. For people who have not been vaccinated, they must still be encouraged to get one, two or booster doses of vaccines.
“Vaccination can be carried out independently or centrally in public places such as health centers, offices, factories, places of worship, markets to terminals.
