Using a headset while charging a cell phone is often a bad habit for many people. Charging cellphones while using a headset has caused various incidents, ranging from burning mattresses, explosions, fires and even someone's death.

In a written statement, UM Surabaya Faculty of Engineering Lukman Hakim explained a number of reasons for the dangers of charging a cell phone while using a headset when in use.

According to Lukman, the first is that the cellphone heats up easily, because the cellphone has to do several activities at the same time, such as listening to songs, charging and not to mention usually opening certain social media, this causes the cellphone to overheat.

“Both shorten battery life. The danger of charging a cellphone while using a headset while sleeping will make the battery experience high voltage, so it is very necessary to ensure that the cellphone has a stop charging feature when the power is maximum," said Lukman Monday (26/12/22)

The third is the occurrence of a short circuit, because playing with a cellphone accompanied by charging a cellphone using a non-original and non-standard cellphone charger or adapter creates a vulnerability to electric leakage.

Finally, health problems. The use of headsets that are not in accordance with the rules and lasts a long time causes frequent ringing in the ears, causing ear infections.

"Not to mention that the ear is not strong enough to bear the burden of loud sound from the headset which will cause damage to the ear function," concluded Lukman.
