UM Surabaya Lecturer: This is what needs to be considered after booster injections

The government urges the public to continue to comply with health protocols and also carry out a Covid-19 booster vaccine to avoid the omicron variant. For those who meet the requirements or have received the first and second vaccines, booster vaccinations can be done.

Responding to this, Lecturer at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIK) at the Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya (UM Surabaya) Ira Purnamasari said that the public must pay attention to several things so that the vaccine can work as optimally as possible.

"Just like vaccinations 1 and 2, booster vaccinations also have the risk of causing AEFI or post-immunization events, especially when the body condition is not healthy enough when receiving the vaccine, several side effects will appear such as pain at the injection site, joint pain, fever, feverish to nauseous," said Ira, a medical-surgical nursing lecturer. Thursday (27/1/22)

Ira also explained that people need to pay attention when they are going to receive booster vaccinations, the first is to maintain a fit body condition, consume nutritious food, drink mineral water at least 2 liters/day and get enough sleep.

"The most important thing is not to be nervous, because if you are nervous it will affect blood pressure which tends to be high, and the last thing is to rest after the vaccine and provide paracetamol as a pain reliever and fever reducer," added Ira.

At the end of his presentation, Ira also explained that vaccination and discipline in health protocols are the keys to overcoming the Covid-19 pandemic. So let's carry out booster vaccinations together and continue to implement strict health protocols so that there is no spike in Covid-19 cases as happened in July-August 2021.
