The kidneys are a pair of vital organs in the body that are shaped like a bean and are located behind the stomach. The function of the kidney as an excretory organ, filters the blood from metabolic waste products before finally being distributed throughout the body. These toxic substances will be excreted through the urine.
Lecturer at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIK) UM Surabaya Ira Purnamasari explained that if the kidneys are impaired, other organs will also feel the effects. According to Ira, to maintain kidney health, one needs to avoid food and drink that can interfere with kidney function.
The first thing to avoid is sodium salt. Sodium salt is usually used in flavoring dishes. Sodium salt plays a role in various physiological functions of the body, one of which is the regulation of fluid and electrolyte balance in the body.
