For some people, the Tahajjud prayer may be difficult, because you have to be able to endure drowsiness and spend the night sleeping, but the priority is very powerful. One of them is as an eraser of sins, gaining the pleasure of Allah SWT, the love of angels, the sunnah of the prophets, calming the soul, a blessing for sustenance to asking for prayers so that they are answered easily.
Lecturer at the Faculty of Islamic Religion (FAI) UM Surabaya M Febriyanto Firman Wijaya shared several tips so that it is easy for someone to maintain the routine of the midnight prayer.
The first is strong intention. A sincere and strong intention is the first step in maintaining the routine of the midnight prayer. Sincere intentions will motivate a person to carry out worship with full sincerity.
This is as confirmed in the hadith of Rasulullah SAW. From Umar bin Khattab ra., he said: I heard Rasulullah SAW say: "Deeds depend on intentions, and everyone will get what he intends ..." (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim)
Second, plan the time, determine the right time for the midnight prayer, namely in the last third of the night before dawn. In several hadiths, it is mentioned about the virtue of worship in the last third of the night, such as the following hadith:
Meaning: From Abu Hurairah ra., he said: Rasulullah SAW said: "Eat the meal, because in the meal there is a blessing." (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim)
Third, get enough sleep, make sure someone gets enough sleep the night before so they can wake up for the midnight prayer. Although there is no specific hadith that mentions sleeping before tahajjud, the principle of maintaining health and balance between worship and rest is supported in Islam.
Fourth, contemplate intentions and prayers before going to bed. When standing before God, meditate on intentions and pray earnestly. Prayer is a form of worship that is emphasized in Islam. Allah teaches humans to pray in the Quran.
Fifth, submit your efforts to Allah and ask for His help in maintaining the midnight prayer routine. The concept of tawakkal (totally trusting in Allah) is emphasized in various verses and hadiths.
All these steps are based on Islamic principles taught in the Al-Quran and the hadiths of Rasulullah SAW. These principles are part of the values taught in Islam to live a balanced and meaningful life.
