The world was shocked by the discovery of cases of acute hepatitis with no known cause in children. Since the beginning of 2022 and began to be detected in early April 2022, from Great Britain, Ireland, Spain, Denmark, the United States, Israel, Japan to Singapore.

In the investigation of the existing cases, Hepatitis A-E virus was not found, a significant increase in liver function and clinical symptoms of acute hepatitis were found.

Gina Noor Djalilah Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine (FK) Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya (UM Surabaya) explained that based on IDAI recommendations, if a child under 16 years old is found at least one or more symptoms such as jaundice, acute abdominal pain, acute diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, decreased consciousness, seizures, lethargy, myalgia or arthralgia then immediately have the child checked at the hospital.

"This is important for further tests, namely blood, liver function and hepatitis A, B, C viruses, while D and E are not yet widely available in Indonesia and for further intensive treatment," said Gina, Lecturer in Pediatrics at FK UM Surabaya.

According to Gina, the prevention that can be done based on IDAI recommendations is first, the community remains calm and careful.

"Prevent infection by washing hands, drinking clean, boiled water, eating clean and fully cooked food, disposing of stools and disposable diapers in the trash," he said again.

Next, what must be done is to use individual cutlery, wear a mask and keep a distance, detect early if you find children with the symptoms mentioned above to check yourself at the nearest health facility
