It doesn't feel like we have entered the end of the month of Ramadan. The journey of life that continues to pass has made Ramadan feel so fast. There is anxiety about the fear that the deeds of worship during Ramadan will not be accepted. The last 10 days of Ramadan are precious moments, so Muslims should be able to make the most of them. Because it is not certain that next year we will be able to meet Ramadan again.
Prophet Muhammad SAW hinted to his people to increase the intensity of worship in the final third of Ramadan. "From Aisyah RA, Rasulullah SAW was very serious (worshipping) in the last ten days (month of Ramadan), exceeding the sincerity of worshiping other than (night). (HR. Muslim).
Thoat Stiawan, a lecturer at the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI) UM Surabaya, explained the advice and example of Rasulullah SAW in motivating his people to increase their worship in the last 10 days of Ramadan by exemplifying several main practices.
The first is to find Lailatul Qadar, you need to prepare a strategy to find Lailatul Qadar. Therefore, it is important to prepare a strategy that is attempted in order to obtain lailatul qadar. Of course, this preparation starts from the 1st of Ramadan or even from Rajab. "Seek Lailatul Qadar in the odd (number) of the last ten days of Ramadan." (Narrated by Al-Bukhari, Muslim and others)
"Second is prolonging the night prayers, in the last 10 nights, Rasulullah SAW did not sleep, he revived these nights for worship, prayer, remembrance, and others until dawn. "Rasulullah SAW used to when entering the last 10 of Ramadan, he fastened his belt (was earnest in worship), enlivened the nights with worship, and woke his wives to worship." (Narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim)," explained Thoat Wednesday (27/4/22)
Next is to increase alms, increasing alms becomes one of the main practices in the last 10 days as an expression of gratitude for the pleasure of meeting Ramadan, as well as completing fasting and other individual acts of worship. Because one's faith and quality of worship are not perfect unless there is a balance between ritual worship and social worship. As Allah SWT says, "Their stomachs are far from their beds, they pray to their Lord with fear and hope, and they donate part of the sustenance that We give them." (Qs. As-Sajdah: 16).
"Fourth is I'tikaf, I'tikaf has specific places and activities, namely mosques with religious activities closer to Allah by dhikr, praying, reading the Koran, praying sunnah, praying, repenting, praying, and others. I'tikaf is recommended at any time, but more emphasis is placed on entering the last ten nights of Ramadan as told by Abdullah bin Umar RA, Rasulullah SAW did it in the last ten days of Ramadan. (HR. Muttafaq 'alaih)," he added again.
The last is recitation of the Qur'an, increasing reading the Qur'an to become one of the main acts of worship in the last 10 days of Ramadan. Reciting the Qur'an is light worship and has great virtues. The tradition of pursuing khatam Al-Qur'an at the end of Ramadan is a special happiness for Muslim individuals, especially those who struggle with work activities every day, so that khatam Al-Qur'an becomes a realistic target.
"Whatever the form of motivation, Al-Qur'an recitations must be intensified and increased in the last 10 days of Ramadan. "(The specified days are) the month of Ramadan, the month in which the (beginning) of the Qur'an was sent down as a guide for mankind and explanations regarding that guidance and the difference (between the right and the wrong)" QS. (Al Baqarah: 185),” he concluded.
