University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya (UM Surabaya) opens opportunities for outstanding students from underprivileged families through the Indonesia Smart College Card (KIP-K) scholarship route in 2022. The UM Surabaya KIP-K Scholarship has entered wave 3 which has been open from 1 July 2022 to 23 August 2022 and will be announced on August 31.

The KIP-K Scholarship is an educational assistance program from the government through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) for outstanding high school, MA, SMK (equivalent) graduates who come from underprivileged families. This scholarship aims to increase the expansion of access and opportunities in tertiary institutions for students of Indonesian Citizens (WNI) who are economically disadvantaged.

Head of the Institute for Information and New Student Admissions (LIPMB) Radius Setiyawan said that the UM Surabaya KIP-K scholarship program exists every year and the number of recipients is according to the quota given by the government.

"KIP-K UM Surabaya Scholarships have entered batch 3. Previously, in batches 1 and 2, we had selected hundreds of applicants," explained Radius Thursday (14/7/22)

According to him, dozens of applicants who have passed KIP-K scholarship batches 1 and 2 have attended debriefing from the university. After being declared successful, the UM Surabaya team will make a home visit to find out the goals of the KIP-K scholarship are right on target.

"Currently UM Surabaya has been given full trust by the government, so that all faculties at UM Surabaya can be accessed through the KIP-K scholarship route, except for the Faculty of Medicine (FK)," he stressed again.

Radius also added that the registration process to uploading the KIP-K UM Surabaya scholarship file was online.

"Prospective students can upload the required files starting from semester I-V report cards with a minimum score of 7.5, attach a photo of the condition of the house, attach a KIP card or a certificate of incapacity from the sub-district or village head," Radius added.

Furthermore, Radius explained that the number of applicants for the KIP-K scholarship is always booming every year. Registrants exceed the quota that has been set.

The large number of UM Surabaya KIP-K scholarship applicants indicates that UM Surabaya is the choice of many prospective students choosing education. Universities will continue to be committed to assisting the government in breaking the cycle of poverty, one of which is through education while increasing the expansion of access and learning opportunities for anyone.
