Shopping can now be done anywhere and anytime without disturbing other activities or also known as online shopping. The many advantages of online shopping such as saving time, no queues to pay, being able to compare prices with other stores to various choices, online shopping is increasingly becoming a hobby in society.

Now shopping online is not only through marketplace or e-commerce platforms. Social media can now be used for shopping, one of which is the Instagram application.

Instagram is one of the most popular applications for sharing photos and videos for free, available on both iPhone and Android. Users can upload photos or videos to the Instagram service and share them with their followers or with a certain group of friends. Instagram users can also view, comment on, and like posts shared by their friends on Instagram. Anyone aged 13 and over can create an account by registering an email address and choosing a username.

Through an Instagram feature called Instagram Shopping, users can more easily shop for their favorite items, such as clothes, accessories, shoes, skincare, and others.

But in fact there are still many fake olshop accounts on Instagram that are irresponsible and even deceive their customers.

UM Surabaya IT expert Taufiqur Rohman shared tips on identifying the characteristics of fake online shops to watch out for when shopping on Instagram.

According to Taufiq, the first thing is to pay attention to the content of the Instagram feed, whether it is conscious or not. The first feature of the fake olshop account is the easiest to see. Scammers usually have a rudimentary profile photo, logo and feed.

“Like the example of a photo resolution that is too small, even to the point of breaking. A real online shop will certainly seriously manage the shop, of course it will display the best feed," said Taufiq Wednesday (17/5/23)

Second, pay attention to the number of followers or followers. According to him, if the total followers on the online shop account are tens of thousands or millions, while the likes and comments generated are only dozens of people. This is a sign that the online shop account is probably a fake olshop account.

Third, account usernames change frequently. Stupid olshop accounts that are used to deceiving, usually change account names regularly, especially if the account name has been changed more than three times. This account needs to be watched.

"In order to find out about the change in the name of the online shop account, customers can visit the shop profile, then touch the option regarding this account. In it, the choice of the previous account name is available. From here, customers can find out what usernames the store has used," he added.

Fourth, excessive olshop account bio profiles. The mode that stands out in the bodong olshop account bio is to provide descriptions or words that try to convince consumers. Usually they will use the words 100% original or serve in a trustworthy manner, and so on.

Lastly, turn off the comment field. Another characteristic of a bogus olshop account is deactivating the comment column. The reason is because the online shop is afraid of bad comments written by previous victims.
