Mobile (HP) tapping occurs when hackers use mobile networks or software through mobile applications to follow activity and monitor conversations. So how do you know if someone's cellphone has been tapped?

UM Surabaya IT expert Taufiqurrahman shared 8 signs if a cell phone is being tapped.  According to him, the first is an unusual sound during a phone call.

Taufiq explained, if there was static or distant sound coming through the cellphone during a conversation, this could be a sign that the cellphone was being watched.

Second, having trouble shutting down. A cellphone that is suddenly unresponsive or difficult to turn off is very likely to gain unauthorized access to the cellphone.

“When turning off the phone, check to see if the shutdown failed or if the backlight remains on, even after we have completed the shutdown process. If that's the case, the culprit could be malicious software," said Taufiq Wednesday (11/16/22)

The third is electronic interference. Check if there is static interference when not on a call by placing the cellphone near other electronic devices, if we hear an unusual sound, it's a sign that someone is listening to our call.

The four third-party applications. Third party applications are potential sources for malware and spyware. If we just downloaded an app other than App Store or Google Play Store, it is another cause of Malware.

"Be wary of any app, especially games, that ask permission to access our call history, address book or contact list," he added.

The five unreasonable internet data package bills. If your internet data plan bill shows unusually high spikes in text or data usage, this is another sign that someone has hacked the phone.

"If we've recently downloaded a new app that's using a lot of data, that could be a valid reason for a sudden increase in data usage," he said.

The six battery capacities are drastically reduced. Reduced battery performance is another indication of a bugged phone. If the phone is bugged, it records the activity and sends it to third parties. This leaves a trail in the form of increased battery usage and as a result the battery loses its life more quickly.

Seventh received an unusual SMS. If someone receives a strange text message that contains random numbers, symbols, or characters, it is a remote control feature of the spy software that works by sending a secret coded text message to the cell phone. In some cases this can be seen if the software is not working properly and it happens regularly.

Finally there is strange activity. The easiest way to detect if someone's phone is being tapped is to pay attention to any strange activity the phone is experiencing suddenly.

"If it turns on, turns off, lights up, or downloads an application by itself, it means that the HP device is being controlled by hackers," concluded Taufiq.
