A slim body is the dream of most women, even men will look cool if their body proportions are appropriate or ideal in height. To get an ideal and healthy body, you have to pay attention to diet, eating frequency and also exercise. Not a few people also misguided by reducing the frequency of eating in order to get the ideal body.
According to the Indonesian Ministry of Health, meal frequency is the number of times you eat in a day including breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. The frequency of meals in a day consists of 3 main meals, namely breakfast, lunch and dinner. The meal schedule is divided into breakfast (before 09.00), lunch (12-13) and dinner (18.00-19.00).
UM Surabaya Nutritionist Tri Kurniawati explained that the meal schedule is adjusted to the stomach emptying time, which is 3-4 hours so that a good meal time is within that time frame so that the stomach is not left empty for too long.
According to his explanation, irregular eating patterns such as eating late or delaying meal times and not even eating can make the stomach experience empty for a long time.
“Irregular eating schedule will certainly have an impact on the stomach. Irregular eating causes more hunger than people who are hungry to eat regularly, so it will be more difficult to control what is consumed, so that the amount consumed is greater," explained Tri Monday (22/8/22)
Tri, who is also a Lecturer in Health and Nutrition for Early Childhood at UM Surabaya, explained that eating once a day is certainly not recommended because it will trigger a number of things, including:
The first triggers fatigue. Irregular consumption patterns during activities can increase the use of muscle energy reserves. As a result, there is a reduction in muscle glycogen which can cause fatigue and will be directly proportional to the decrease in muscle glycogen levels.
Both trigger a drowsy state. The carbohydrate content in the food consumed can cause blood sugar levels to rise and fall rapidly, which can cause the body to tire easily. The body will release insulin and lots of triphosphate amino acids which will enter the brain and can stimulate the hormone serotonin which has a relaxing and sleepy effect.
Third, the excess amount of food consumed. Even though they have suppressed their appetite to limit calories, in the end a person will consume a lot of calories when mealtime arrives. This is caused by holding hunger for a long time. Calories will accumulate even more if you eat fatty foods, processed foods, or snacks.
The fourth lack of nutrition. In addition to the quantity or quantity, the quality of the food consumed must be considered.
"If the body only consumes it once a day, which should be 3 times a day, then there is a need for nutrition in quality and quantity that has not been met, which if it occurs for a long time will cause a person to fall into a state of malnutrition," concluded Tri.
