1985
Based on the Decree of the East Java Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership No. : Kep/003-V/1985, the Da'wah Faculty (FIAD), the Tarbiyah Faculty and the Syari'ah Faculty belonged to UMSurabaya, and the three of them joined the Islamic Religion Faculty (FAI).
1992
Central Executive of the Muhammadiyah Health Advisory Council through Letter No.: IV.B/4.a/220/1992 dated December 14, 1992 submitted an Application for the Establishment of Associate Health Expert Education within the Muhammadiyah/Aisyiyah environment to the Secretary General of the Indonesian Ministry of Health. UMSurabaya was one of those asked to open the education program in question.
1993
Based on the Decree of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No.: Hk.00.06.1.1.3331 dated 8 September 1993 the ACADEMIC OF NURSING (AKPER) was officially established in the UMSurabaya environment
2000
On January 1, 2000 the Faculty of Law was established
2001
The Academy of Health Analysts (AAK) was also established with SK Dikti No. 184/D/O/2001 dated 26-09-2001.
2004
University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya seeks to establish a postgraduate program (master of Islamic Studies), and based on SK Dj.II/363/2004 a Master of Islamic Education Study Program has been established from the Ministry of Religion
2005
University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya received a recommendation from the Indonesian Ministry of Health's Human Resources Development and Empowerment Agency (BPPSDM) No. H.K.0312.4.1.03259 for the establishment of the Nursing Science Study Program and based on the results of the visitation of the Management Center of the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI) Number 553/PP.PPNI/K/X/2005 dated 5 October 2005, and based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No.277/D /T2006 January 30, 2006 UM Surabaya has been granted permission to organize the Nursing Science Study Program (SI) Faculty of Health Sciences.
2006
Based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 006/D/T/2006 UM Surabaya was granted permission to organize the D3 Midwifery Study Program. Based on the issuance of the Study Program permit, in 2006 study programs in the health sector including the D-3 Nursing Study Program, Academy of Health Analysts, Nursing Science Study Program and Midwifery D-3 Study Program became one faculty under the name Faculty of Health Sciences (FIK).
2008
University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya in developing comprehensive human health services, especially in dealing with human psychological problems, based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 2001/D/T/2008 dated June 25, 2008, the S-I Psychology study program was opened
2009
Based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 1272/D/T/2009 dated 31 July 2009 established the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Masters Program (S-2)
2011
Based on the Decree of the Minister of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 164/E/O/2011 dated August 4, Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya added a professional program, which is an integrated part of the nursing science study program (S-1)
2012
Based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 48/E/O/2012 dated 8 February 2012 the Early Childhood Education Teacher Education Study Program (PG PAUD) was established
2014
Established the Islamic Banking Study Program with the Decree of the Director General of Education. Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia Number 3656 of 2014 dated 1 July 2015.
2015
University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya added 3 study programs, including S-1 Elementary School Teacher Education with RI Menristekdikti Decree Number 25/KPT/I/2015 dated 15 September 2015, Masters in Sharia Economic Law with Decree of the Director General of Islamic Education Number: 3243 of 2015 dated June 8 2015, and S-1 PGMI with SK SK Director General of Education. Islamic Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia Number 6063 of 2015 dated October 23 2015, but in its journey specifically for PGMI there is no new student admission process
2016
In the context of developing study programs in the health sector, the University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya, was given permission to establish medical education study programs and the medical profession, with the Decree of the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number 124/KPT/I/2016 dated 23 March 2016

University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya added 2 study programs, including S1 Midwifery and Professional Fields with SK Menristekdikti Number 896/KPT/I/2018 dated October 16 2018, and Industrial Engineering Study Program with RI Menristekdikti Decree Number 981/KPT/I/2018 dated 8 November 2018
2019
University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya was given permission to open the Bachelor of Pharmacy study program. SK Menristekdikti RI Number 730/KPT/I/2019 dated 19 August 2019. In its development up to September 2019, the Study Program at Muhammadiyah University Surabaya has been accredited by BAN-PT and LAM-PT Kes.
