Dr. dr. Muhammad Anas, Sp.OG.
Muhammad Anas is the figure of UM Surabaya's vice rector for the 2025-2029 period, precisely in the Academic, Quality, and Al-Islam Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK) fields at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya (UM Surabaya). As a doctor specialising in obstetrics and gynaecology, he has long been involved in the academic and health world, making him a figure with medical expertise and higher education management.
Muhammad Anas received his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine, Airlangga University Surabaya in 1992. He went on to specialise in obstetrics and gynaecology at the same university in 2002. His interest in immunology led him to complete his diploma at Gadjah Mada University in 2012. Furthermore, she earned her doctorate from Brawijaya University Malang in 2017 with a dissertation on Staphylococcus aureus Infection in Women with Non-Specific Vaginitis and its Effect on Infertility.
At UM Surabaya, he not only teaches in the Medical Study Programme, but also in nursing, midwifery, pharmacy, and master of hospital administration. He also served as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at UM Surabaya for eight years (2016-2025) and currently serves as Chair of the UM Surabaya Halal Centre.
As a researcher, he is active in various research grant projects, both at the national and international levels. He has published various scientific articles indexed by Scopus, Web of Science, and SINTA. Some of her research focuses on the role of immunology in infertility, the use of virtual reality in educating pregnant women, and the application of halal assurance systems in Muhammadiyah MSMEs.
In addition, he also serves as Editor in Chief of Magna Medika: A Scientific Periodical of Medicine and Health for the period 2020-2026. Apart from being a doctor and academic, Anas has a great concern for halal science. He is involved in various halal certification programmes, including mentoring Muhammadiyah MSMEs and strengthening the capacity of halal assistants. He also serves as Halal Supervisor at RSI Hasanah Muhammadiyah Mojokerto and is active in the Halal Examination Institute (LPH) KHT Muhammadiyah PWM East Java.
